Like his brother Martin, Peter is also an authentic cycling globetrotter, spending most of the year far from Slovakia riding and training, or just on relaxing holidays like the ones the twins usually spend in California at the end of each season. In 2012 Peter conquered the Tour of Oman and followed up that win with a victory in the national championship TT. After a roller-coaster Tour de France, Peter was part of the squad that captured the World Championship TTT in Valkenburg. Always available and interested in change, next year Peter is aiming to improve in the major stage races as well as one-day events.

Peter's news

Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team rider Peter Velits surprised the peloton by making an escape group, and building up enough of a gap with his break mates to threaten a GC takeover in the 152km Stage 4 of Vuelta Ciclista al Pais Vasco on Thursday.

Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team rider Peter Velits, in the White jersey as the points leader, made sure he stayed near the front of the bunch as the peloton pulled in a trio ahead inside the final 10km of Vuelta Ciclista al Pais Vasco on Tuesday. The 170.2km stage, with five categorized climbs, ended in the predicted bunch sprint finish and Velits was 10th.
