When you think of Iljo you immediately think of the track, especially the one in Gent, where for the fourth time last November he won the six-day race. But in 2012, Iljo proved to be a great rider on the road as well. At the beginning of the season he fulfilled his dream of riding Paris-Roubaix, the race he loves the most, and a few weeks later he starred in a spectacular and unforgettable victory after a mechanical glitch in the Tour of Turkey, where he showed remarkable self-control in fixing the problem and winning the race a few meters ahead of the group — definite poise under pressure. He married An-Sofie on December 21 and is father to Jules. In 2013 Iljo will concentrate exclusively on road racing to "get a better idea of how far I can go."

Iljo's news

Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team came just meters away from a victory at 110km Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour on Sunday, as Julien Vermote tried his best to stay away solo, but the elements and a well organized pursuit foiled his plans. Iljo Keisse finished 4th in the highly successful South African cycling event, which attracts 35,000 riders every year. Kristof Vandewalle, Keisse, and Vermote all raced the event, and the OPQS Board also partcipated.

Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team happily returns as participants in the 36th Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour, set to take place on March 10th in Cape Town, South Africa. This year, OPQS brings an additional rider to not only enjoy the experience of "the Argus," but to also try and get a good result. The Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour attracts 35,000 two-wheel enthusiasts to Cape Town every year. Over the past 36 years, the Cycle Tour has emerged as one of the greatest cycling events on the planet, thanks to perfect organization and a 110-kilometre route that passes through fascinating places. This year, riders will ride along the False Bay Coast, past the Cape of Good Hope, and will also feature beautiful views of the Atlantic Coast on the way to the finish.

Omega Pharma -Quick-Step Cycling Team put on a show in Middelkerke at the 7km Driedaagse van West-Vlaanderen Prologue on Friday, as Belgian National TT Champion Kristof Vandewalle won with a time of 8'09", and his teammates were not very far behind.
