Gerald is one of the most promising sprinters of his generation. He has already proven his skills as a sprinter by becoming national champion at the tender age of 19, and then going on to make his mark in a few stages of the Deutschland Tour and the Vuelta. In 2011 Gerald got back into his pedalling groove after suffering a serious injury that kept him away from racing for several months. He is ready to shine in 2012 in support of the team captains in the spring classics and to play his own hand during the group sprints in the stage races. It promises to be an upbeat season, like the music he enjoys listening to on long trips as he travels around the world.

Gerald's news

Gerald Ciolek earned a podium spot, placing 3rd in the 157km Tour de l'Ain Stage 1 on Tuesday.

Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team knew Wednesday's 167km Critérium du Dauphiné Stage 3 would have a finish for sprinter Gerald Ciolek.

The final, 72km Stage 8 of AMGEN Tour of California was set up perfectly by Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team. The leadout train dominated the front of the peloton, in preparation for the sprint of Tom Boonen in hopes that he could get a win in Los Angeles. Boonen took 2nd by a wheel's length to Peter Sagan (Liquigas-Cannondale), who won five out of eight AMGEN Tour of California stages. Gerald Ciolek was also right there at the finish, rounding out the podium in third place on Sunday.
