“Luftwaffe Bert”, as his sports director Brian Holm is fond of calling him, is one of the best time trialists in the world. His most prestigious successes include four national time trial titles and the world championship title for the time trial in Varese in 2008. Married with two children, Bert has a passion for a sport that requires a rare degree of concentration and precision: golf. He’s a big fan of Martin Kaymer, one of the best golfers on today’s scene. He loves hitting the greens on the banks of the Bodensee whenever he can. “It also helps me a lot in my job,” he says. “The time trial is a specialty that requires concentration, in which the little details make all the difference.”
